Busemann.〕 was a German professor of aerodynamics at the University of Göttingen. He was first to propose the swept wing (what Germans called ''Pfeilflügel'', or "arrow wing") at a 1935 conference on aerodynamics.〔Christopher, John. ''The Race for Hitler's X-Planes'' (The Mill, Gloucestershire: History Press, 2013), p.48.〕 He later headed the German aircraft research center at Völkenrode, Braunschweig.
